Today is the Summer Solstice in the northern hemisphere…that longed for day when the light lingers the longest and the coming of darkness seems almost to be an afterthought.
In my part of the world the sun rose today at 5:12 AM and will set at 9:18 PM… although the glow of light remains until well after 10:30 PM. I’ve lived in the arctic where the sun never sets in the summer and conversely, barely rises in the winter, but those extremes seem to throw my body clock off balance…but this…this feels just right. With all the available hours of sunlight there’s ample time to get everything done. There’s no need to rush and there’s time left for “lingering” (I love that word…it feels so slow and relaxed and decedent!) through the long evenings.
And this evening brings a pot luck dinner and solstice celebration that will be shared with friends while “lingering” in the light at the ocean’s edge.
The brightest and lightest of blessings to everyone and thank you for stopping by today.
