This week’s theme at Lens-Us-Together is “Satisfy My Soul"
What is it about the sea that restores and feeds our soul…our spirit? As an island dweller I’m surrounded by water and although the mountains inspire me and the ancient forests fill me up, it’s the ocean the never fails to speak to me and brings me back to a place of balance and peace.
For over a month now, the world’s attention has been drawn to the sad situation in the Gulf of Mexico and although on the surface it doesn’t appear to affect me on a personal level…it does. We’re all connected on so many levels…energetically, emotionally, economically and environmentally.
But what can I do…what can any of us do?
Since this disaster happened I’ve avoided watching and listening to news stories about it. Initially I felt such a deep sense of overwhelming and immobilizing sadness and despair that I knew that hearing stories of the pain, anger and frustration surrounding it, would only add my own negative feelings to the mix.
Several weeks ago, I felt a huge relief when I read Dr. Masaru Emoto’s open letter regarding the oil spill. Dr. Emoto has done research on the molecular structure of water and how it’s influenced by thought and intent…for example, water vessels covered with the word "love" freeze into symmetrical, beautiful crystals, and those covered in words like "hate" create deformed, uneven structures. (Check out this short excerpt from the documentary movie “What the Bleep” to get a better understanding of his work)
His suggestion was to use Hoʻoponopono, the ancient Hawaiian practice of reconciliation, forgiveness and healing. I’ve used this practice myself in the past and perhaps because of it’s simplicity, I tend to forget about it.
Simply put, Dr. Emoto says…send the energy of love and gratitude to the water and all the living creatures in the Gulf of Mexico and its surroundings...
To whales, dolphins, pelicans, fishes, shellfishes, planktons, corals, algae and all creatures in the Gulf of Mexico:
“I am sorry.
Please forgive me.
Thank you.
I love you. "
This mantra/meditation focuses on love, gratitude and reconciliation, which is where my heart wants to be on any issue.
Blessings to all and thanks to everyone who stops by.
