Today is the first day of August and the first day of Susannah’s August Break.
I love the way
the warmth of summer
encourages everything to open,
to unfold and expand.
I’m coaxed to shed layers…
of clothing and anything else
that keeps me closed and tight.
The warmth asks me to
unravel the knots,
smooth out the folds,
to stand on my tippy toes
and grow.
In summer’s warmth
I feel raised and gently nurtured.
This is as natural
as a flower turning
to face the glow of the sun,
radiating the truth
of it’s being.
