although i've explored painting with both watercolours and acrylics, i've never really felt that it was "my medium". I wanted it to be, but it always felt like a struggle...it never came from that zen state where everything just flows. i have a painting sitting propped against a wall in my bedroom that I started last year and i want to finish it....but...it's still sitting there, sadly unfinished. i've thought a lot about it and i'm beginning to realize that painting scares me a little...especially watercolour. it's so unforgiving! i think it may be time to get over that!
with that said, i'd like to introduce you to a friend of mine, Judy McLaren (we met several years ago, through our book club) and Judy paints with a passion! as she says on her website "it has taken years for me to truly listen to my own voice, to throw off convention and paint with abandon and joy".
although her first love has always been portraiture, she's also done some beautiful abstracts and has recently been rediscovering clay sculpture.
Judy is now sharing her work on her blog, A Painter's Day , and selling through ebay.

i LOVE this piece and it's one of the works that's available on ebay.
check out her blog and her website which has some of her previous work on it.

Painting scares me, too, Kate! But I keep on trying to find "my" medium and "my" style, and it probably does mean that I will have to "let go" to allow this to happen. Your friend Judy's work is beautiful and I will be visiting her blog. Thank you.
