long drawn out summer evenings...i really do love the extra light we get at this time of year. summer days lasted 24 hours with no darkness at all, when i lived in the arctic on Baffin Island...but then in December, the winter nights lasted just as long!
Short post today and this little verse is just short enough!
In winter I get up at night
And dress by yellow candle-light.
In summer quite the other way
I have to go to bed by day.
~Robert Louis Stevenson
Happy Summer Solstice Kate!
What an experience that must have been, living so near the arctic, I think I could handle the 24 hours of light more than 24 hours of darkness.

Wonderful comment on the solstice! And while I agree that a 24-hour day of light would be wonderful, the winters must have been very hard to cope with! Hope all is well with you!!

Happy Solstice to you Kate! I've only been so far north that it stayed light until about 11:30 and then the sun came up again at 3:30, 4:00 in the morning and that was weird for me!
Have fun with your lavender magic wands and remember... no bees tucked inside! We need them to make that wonderful honey!
