What do you know about the women of Juarez, Mexico?
If you're anything like me...even though I spend two months of every year in Mexico, I had never heard of this horrendous tragedy.
A click that took me to Monica's blog at "Girl gone Thread Wild" ended my ignorance. I hadn't seen the movie "Border Town" and hadn't heard that over 400 women have been murdered in this border town (across the river from El Paso, Texas) since the early 1990's. Authorities are slow to investigate and there are fears that some may even be involved.
The subject is obviously too complex to go into detail here but please go over to Monica's site to learn more about her request...her hope...that all artists who would like to do something, will join her in aDRESSing the issue. So often we feel there's nothing we can do, so here's our opportunity to make a public statement in a creative way.
In Monica's own words...
.
It's about doing SOMETHING.
.
The idea is you make whatever you want,

I've never heard of this either....what tragic circumstances. :( And such a clever way to adDRESS the issue!

I just commented but it didn't show up....maybe you are moderating the comments now?
I was just saying that it is indeed a tragic situation and that this idea is a great way to adDRESS it.

Serena, I've beeen having a bit of trouble with the comments recently, so no, I haven't enable comment moderation. For the last week or two it wouldn't let me reply to commentors either. Thanks for persisting!

I had heard something about this tragedy but not many of the details. I'll definitely be joining in this effort, thanks for publicising it.
